    Long curly hair Troy Polamalu

Filed under: Troy Polamalu — Tags: — sportsboy @ 10:48 pm

In NFL,there are a great many good players!Hereby i want to give you  some information about Troy Polamalu!

Troy Aumua Polamalu (born Troy Aumua on April 19, 1981 in Garden Grove, California(Hometown:Tenmile, Oregon) is a professional American football strong safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League(NFL). He was drafted in the 1st round (16th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Steelers. He played college football at the University of Southern California. Polamalu is known for his hard hitting, tenacious playing style and his distinct long curly hair. Since joining the Steelers in 2003, he has helped lead the team to two Super Bowl championships in NFL.

Polamalu was drafted 16th overall in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Polamalu was actually the team’s second option, as they had planned on signing Dexter Jackson that offseason. Jackson, the reigning Super Bowl MVP with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, even had a verbal agreement to sign with the Steelers, only for him to back out at the last minute and sign with the Arizona Cardinals instead. The Steelers then went to “Plan B” and drafted Polamalu instead.

He is widely regarded as one the top five safeties in the NFL league. The Chargers, who had the 15th overall pick, had a major need at safety to replace Rodney Harrison but instead chose to go with quantity over quality forgoing the opportunity to select Polamalu by trading down and getting Sammy Davis and Terrence Kiel. The Steelers, ecstatic that Polamalu slid past the Chargers, quickly made a move to bring Polamalu to their team. The Steelers believed so much that Polamalu could have a positive impact on their defense that they traded up from the 27th spot to the 16th spot, originally held by the Chiefs. The Steelers traded away the 92nd and 200th overall pick for the rights to switch first round picks and select Troy Polamalu. Essentially, the trade was Polamalu for Larry Johnson, Julian Battle, and Brooks Bollinger (the Bollinger pick was subsequently traded to the Jets in the same draft). He has the distinction of being the only safety ever drafted by the Steelers in the first round.

In the last game of his college career against Iowa in the Orange Bowl, Polamalu injured his hamstring in pre-game warm-ups and had very limited action in the game. Subsequently, the hamstring caused Polamalu to miss the Senior Bowl and 2003 NFL Combine as well. Polamalu was able to perform for scouts at his USC pro day.He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1st round pick #16 and was signed to a 5 year contract worth $8.275 million dollars.

In NFL league, there are  many excellent players! Troy Polamalu is one fo them, achieving Super Bowl MVP and good play in the NFL games !I think he can have a better performance in the following seasons, becoming a significant player in the NFL league!

    NFL Team Cincinnati Bengals

Filed under: NFL Team Cincinnati Bengals — Tags: , — sportsboy @ 11:49 pm

As we all know that NFL is a great league in the USA,owning a large number of fans and good players! In the NFL, there are 32 teams and every team has its own history and features!Hereby i want to share some information about Cincinnati Bengals ,which is also a special team in the NFL!

The Cincinnati Bengals are a professional football team based in Cincinnati, Ohio. They are currently members of the North Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Their first two seasons, 1968 and 1969, were as an American Football League franchise. They joined the NFL as part of the 1970 AFL-NFL Merger, which had actually been agreed to in 1966.

           CINCINNATI PRO FOOTBALL HISTORY

In 1937, a team known as the Cincinnati Bengals was formed as a member of the American Football League. The 1937 Bengals finished with a 2-4-2 record in their first year, but the AFL folded after the season. The Bengals continued as an independent team in 1938, and in 1939 joined a new AFL, finishing in second place with a 6-2 record. But again, the league folded after the season.       Once again in 1940, another new AFL emerged, and again the Bengals joined. But that AFL suffered the fate of the two AFLs before it, folding after the 1941 season as the United States entered World World II, and the Bengals folded along with it.

Pro football returned to Cincinnati 26 years later in 1967 when Paul Brown headed an ownership group that landed an expansion franchise in the modern-era American Football League. Brown, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who founded and coached the Cleveland Browns from 1946-62, picked the name Bengals for the new team “to give it a link with past professional football in Cincinnati.”

           History

In 1966, Paul Brown wanted to become involved in professional football again. James A. Rhodes, then the governor of Ohio, convinced Brown that Ohio needed a second team. Cincinnati was deemed the logical choice, in essence, splitting the state.

Brown named the team the Bengals in order “to give it a link with past professional football in Cincinnati.”  Another Bengals team had existed in the city and played in three previous American Football Leagues from 1937 to 1942. The city’s world-renowned zoo was also home to a rare white Bengal Tiger. However, possibly as an insult to Art Modell, Paul Brown chose the exact shade of orange used by his former team. He added black as the secondary color. Brown chose a very simple logo: the word “BENGALS” in black lettering. Ironically, one of the potential helmet designs Brown rejected was a striped motif that was similar to the helmets adopted by the team in 1981 and which is still in use to this day; however, that design featured orange stripes on a black helmet which were more uniform in width.

With assistance from Ohio governor James A. Rhodes, Hamilton County and the Cincinnati city council agreed to build a single multi-purpose facility on the dilapidated riverfront section of the city. The new facility had to be ready by the opening of the 1970 NFL season and was officially named Riverfront Stadium, which was its working title.

With the completion of the merger in 1970, the Cleveland Browns were moved to the AFL-based American Football Conference and placed in the AFC Central, the same division as the Bengals. An instant rivalry was born, fueled initially by Paul Brown’s rivalry with Art Modell

These information are about Cincinnati Bengals’ history in the NFL,although they are brief! However ,from these we can know Cincinnati Bengals how to become a NFL team, whoes process seems zigzag and funny! Now Cincinnati Bengals is also a great among NFL  teams!

    Great and Old-line Cleveland Browns

Filed under: Cleveland Browns — Tags: — sportsboy @ 10:10 pm

As we all know that Cleverland Browns is one of  well-known NFL teams! It is a good team and there are well potential players such as Michael Dean Perry Brown !I think you will like this team much if you know more about its history in the NFL! Hereby i want to share you with somthing about its history!

The Cleveland Browns are a professional American football team based in Cleveland, Ohio. They play in the AFC North division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The Cleveland Browns began play in 1946 as a charter member of the All-America Football Conference(AAFC) and joined the NFL in 1950 after the AAFC folded.

Cleveland has won a total of eight league championships; they won all four AAFC titles (including a 15-0 undefeated season in 1948), and after joining the NFL won four additional championships prior to the NFL-AFL merger in 1970. The Browns were one of three teams which joined ten former AFL teams to form the American Football Conference. Despite the Browns’ historical successes the club has not played in a league championship game since the merger; however, they have competed for the AFC Championship three times. Having lost all three games, along with two NFL Championship Games of the Super Bowl era prior to the merger (in 1968 and 1969), Cleveland is one of the five NFL teams that has yet to qualify for the Super Bowl. Additionally, Cleveland has not hosted a Super Bowl, making it the only NFL city to have neither hosted nor sent a team to the Super Bowl.

2006 marked the 60th year since the birth of the Cleveland Browns in 1946.  Throughout the course of the special season, ClevelandBrowns.com and Sherwin-Williams celebrated the anniversary by “painting” 60 memorable moments in Browns history. From the very first championship in 1946 to the ’64 title, The Drive, The Fumble, the very first win in ’99 and beyond, we put together a comprehensive history of the Cleveland Browns moment by moment and released it throughout the season.

          About its NFL jerseys

The Browns are the only team in the NFL that does not have a logo on their helmets. Even though the team has had various logos throughout the years, such as the “Brownie Elf” mascot (a logo that Art Modell did away with in the mid-1960s, feeling it was too childish; however, its use has been revived under the current ownership.) and the Brown “B” in a white football, the club’s orange “logo-less” helmet has become its primary trademark. There was an attempt by Modell to put a brown “CB” logo on the helmet in 1965, but the players removed them before the first preseason game so they never saw any kind of game action. It was widely believed that the “CB Logo Helmets” (as they’re known by many Browns Fans.) were used in a Preseason Game vs The Green Bay Packers in 1965, but photographic evidence shows that this is not the case. The “CB” Logo is what Art Modell tried to use as a replacement for the “Brownie Elf” mascot.

Since debuting in 1946, the Browns’ uniforms have essentially remained the same. However, the team originally wore white leather helmets before switching to orange plastic-shell helmets (with a white center stripe) on a full-time basis in 1952. (In the 1950 and 1951 seasons, the Browns wore the white helmets in day games and plain orange helmets in night games because of an NFL rule prohibiting the use of white or light-colored helmets for night games because of the lighting and the use of a white football for night games. Also because of night games, they experimented with silver game pants in the 1950 & ‘51 seasons, and a third orange jersey for night games in the 1954 season.) From 1957 to 1960, the players’ numbers were on the sides of their helmets. In 1960, the Browns went to the now familiar brown-white-brown stripe sequence on the helmets.

From the above ,we can know that Cleveland Browns has been experiencing a lot ,which makes it a great and old-line team in the NFL!I think it will become better and more perfect in the NFL!Good luck!

A Good RB #32 Cedric Benson

Filed under: Cedric Benson NFL jerseys — Tags: — sportsboy @ 2:21 am

Cedric Benson  is a good RB in the NFL league!Below is some his brief information about him!

He  is an American football running back for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears fourth overall in the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football for the University of Texa at Austin.

In his early years,he has achieved good results , leding  his team to three consecutive State Championships, and rushing for a total of 15 touchdowns in the three championship games. Cedric rushed for more than 1,900 yards in only 9 games. He was the first high school player to ever make the cover of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football annual magazine. Cedric was also a center fielder on the baseball team. As a senior, in District 4-5A games, he hit .361 with 4 home runs and 14 RBIs.

In his college of The University of Texas at Austin,he continued his great performance in the football field!he received the Doak Walker Award as the nation’s top running back in 2004. He finished his college career with 5,540 rushing yards to rank sixth all time in NCAA Division I-A history, and second only to Ricky Williams in school history. Benson was a 2004 All-America selection.

In the college ,he had often been compared to Ricky Williams, due to their similarities in running style, college choice, legal complications and superficial appearance(roughly the same size and build coming out of college, and both had dreadlocks early in their careers)While attending the University of Texas, Benson majored in social work and sociology. During his latter years, he earned membership into the Texas’ Athletics Director’s Academic Honor Roll, and the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in fall of 2003

In  the 2005 NFL Draft,The Chicago Bears selected Benson as the fourth overall pick ,the highest drafted Bears player since Dan Hampton in 1979

Due to Thomas Jones’s  medial collateral ligament sprain, after the 2005 season, the Bears considered making Benson the team’s feature running back after Thomas Jones was unhappy with his current contract status. The team’s plans went astray when Benson injured his shoulder after colliding with Brian Urlacher during a routine scrimmage. Although the injury was not serious, it placed Benson on the sidelines for a majority of the preseason.Although Benson fully recovered from his injury, Lovie Smith selected Jones as the Bears’ starter. Benson scored his first two touchdowns during week five of the 2006 NFL season, against the Buffalo Bills. In a game against the New England Patriots during week twelve of the 2006 Chicago Bears season, Benson collided with linebacker Junior Seau, causing Seau to fall down and fracture his forearm.]

Benson became the Bears’ secondary running back again during the playoffs. In the 2006 NFC Championship Game against the New Orleans Saints Benson scored a fourth quarter touchdown and totaled 60 yards. Though he was given a majority of the team’s carries, his counterpart, Jones, amassed two touchdowns and 123 rushing yards. In the team’s following game, Super Bowl XLI, Benson sustained a knee injury in the first half, and missed the remainder of the game.

Lovie Smith named Benson as the Bears’ starting running back after the team traded Thomas Jones to the New York Jets. Benson struggled throughout the preseason, but received enough support from his teammates and coaches to retain his starting position. He amassed only forty-two yards in his first regular season game and committed a costly turnover. However, Benson rebounded with a 101-yard performance during his next start. After several inconsistent games, Benson began to stabilize after the bye week. In one of his best games of the season, Benson rushed for eighty-nine yards and scored one touchdown on eleven attempts. He averaged 5.8 yards in his next game, but sustained a season-ending ankle  injury. Benson, who had amassed 647 yards and four touchdowns, was relieved by Adrian N. Peterson.Jerry Angelo, the Bears’ general manager, has expressed interest in acquiring a new running back to revitalize the Bears’ running game, which finished last in yards in the league. Upon hearing the news, Benson commented, “You all know the competition that goes on around here. It doesn’t matter to me. Maybe somebody else can get some criticism.”The Bears drafted running back Matt Forté in the 2008 NFL Draft to provide Benson with some competition for the starting job. Benson was released by the Bears after the 2007 season on June 9, 2008, following his second alcohol-related arrest in five weeks.

             Cincinnati Bengals

Shortly after the Grand Jury failed to indict him on both incidents in Austin, Benson signed a one-year, $520,000 contract with the Cincinnati Bengals on September 30, 2008. The Bengals’ roster opened up after running back DeDe Dorsey was placed on injured reserve. He originally backed-up Chris Perry. , beginning his season in the loss to the Dallas Cowboys, rushing 10 times for 30 yards. Cedric Benson became the starting back for the Bengals for the Week 7 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Benson rushed 14 times for 52 yards in his first ever career start as a Bengal, and ran over Steelers safety Troy Polamalu during a rushing attempt, giving the pro-bowler a concussion. In the following 35-6 loss to the Houston Texans, he totaled 49 yards on 13 carries and had two receptions for 20 yards. The Bengals picked up their first victory of the season in a 21-19 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the win, Benson had 24 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown. Benson hit his stride in the Bengals’ three-game winning streak at the end of the season, gashing the Washington Redskins in week 15 with 161 all purpose yards, including 88 yards receiving (79 of which came on a screen pass). In week 16, Benson dominated the Cleveland Browns, rushing for 171 yards. In the final game of the season against Kansas City, Benson had 130 all-purpose yards, including 111 yards on 25 carries. In the twelve games he was active during the 2008 season, Benson had 932 all-purpose yards, including 747 yards rushing and 185 yards receiving.

His career is becoming better and better, hope he can do more better and better in the following seasobns! He is a good RB!
